Read the movie description that appears below the movie player on the Filmmaking Topic Page. Then use the following prompts to encourage class discussion before, during, and after watching the movie.

Before the Movie

What do you know about filmmaking?

What is your favorite movie?

During the Movie (Pause Points)

Stop at the following times in the movie and ask questions or prompt a discussion to keep students focused and to assess their understanding before moving on:

Timecode 1:19: Which part of production might involve casting the actors?

Timecode 1:40: Would the director’s name be listed in the opening or closing credits? Why?

Timecode 2:35: Would a longer time in principal photography require longer pre-production, or might the workload be the same?

Timecode 2:58: Why do directors shoot much more film than they end up using in the final movie?

After the Movie

In what way is filmmaking collaborative?

Why is it easier for people to produce their own movies than it was 50 years ago?

What job in movie production would you like to do the most and why?
